Who are you? What is your personal or social identity? And how do you manage, protect and utilize your identity in the 21st century? According to the Oxford Dictionary, identity is defined as “characteristics that determine who or what a person is.” So, how do you explain your various traits scattered across the web? Unfortunately, there is no single definitive answer to this simple question. As individuals, we do not have the opportunity to control, protect, and use our own identities.
Our identities are fragmented puzzle pieces scattered across offline and online worlds. To integrate these disparate pieces of information into a cohesive identity, Metadium believes that it is important to connect “real world identity” with “virtual world identity.” The Metadium platform was created with the goal of providing individuals with the ability to manage, protect, and use their identity whenever and wherever they want.
Although tightly controlled identities have been the norm for globalization, economic prosperity, and technological advancement in the digital world, we are entering a new era. We have already created previously unimaginable technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, and virtual reality. Now, it is the time to revolutionize the concept of identity, enabling individuals to manage, protect, and utilize their identities as they see fit.
Metadium is the key to fixing the current flawed identity verification system as an infrastructure to solve identity issues. The Metadium Protocol aims to create an innovative next-generation digital identity that proves its existence beyond doubt and provides functionality across a wide range of use cases for self-sovereign identity.
Metadium supports a secure, decentralized digital identity by ensuring minimal disclosure of personal information and providing such data only with the user's consent.
Our infrastructure is based on blockchain technology that supports identity creation through optional verification. Additionally, individuals can use their Metadium ID across other platforms and services, making it a gateway to support a variety of other platforms. Metadium is designed to support off-chain and cross-blockchain identities through oracles. Our protocol will improve and increase awareness of current digital identities, while maintaining the integrity of personal data and achieving comprehensively interoperable identities.

Growth of Metadium
Identity authentication has rapidly moved from the offline to the online world due to the exponential growth of the Internet. Even with the advent of smartphones, the importance of identity authentication has been highlighted in that it allows people to communicate and interact efficiently anytime, anywhere, regardless of location or distance, and the technology has become increasingly sophisticated. However, despite technological advancements, online identity authentication is still legally and technically limited, and incidents of privacy infringement have occurred.
Based on self-sovereign identity, Metadium has worked to create a system that proves one's identity without having to go through a third-party authentication agency. Thanks to these efforts, we developed Meta ID, a next-generation ID solution that connects an individual's everyday ID and virtual ID by introducing decentralized PKI (DPKI), a KYC-compliant ID based on proof and reputation system. In addition, innovative efforts have been made in which individuals take the lead.
Meta ID has been enhanced to establish an identity authentication system compliant with the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) DID standard, demonstrating its innovation and safe solution through years of portfolio development.
Future of Metadium
The introduction of Decentralized Identifiers (DID) has been brought in various fields to enhance identity authentication, and its effectiveness and security have been demonstrated. However, a remaining challenge is that DID platforms are still often locked into specific blockchain platforms, making it difficult to break free. Despite efforts by blockchain-based ID service companies to achieve interoperability between heterogeneous blockchains, they have yet to succeed. This is mainly due to the different data formats of IDs constructed by each entity and the difficulty of sharing and verifying IDs across different blockchain platforms.
Metadium is about to take on a new challenge once again. By connecting with heterogeneous blockchains, we will realize security and rapid verification of identity authentication, easily manage digital identities, and introduce a reliable authentication system. By constructing the Metadium Identity Layer system that can be shared between heterogeneous blockchains, rather than the Metadium DID platform, we will have a single integrated ID system.
We place personal data privacy and safety as our top priority, and we strive to lead the blockchain-based identity authentication ecosystem and establish ourselves as a universal ID that connects ID systems across various blockchains.

신원인증은 인터넷의 기하급수적인 성장으로 오프라인에서 온라인 세계로 빠르게 이동되어 왔습니다. 심지어 스마트폰의 등장은 언제, 어디서든 위치나 거리에 상관없이 효율적으로 의사소통하고 상호작용할 수 있다는 점에서 신원인증의 중요성이 부각되어 왔으며, 기술은 점차 고도화 되었습니다. 하지만 기술의 발전에도 불구하고 온라인 상에서의 신원인증은 여전히 법적으로나 기술적으로 제한적이고, 프라이버시를 침해당하는 사고들이 발생되어 왔습니다.
메타디움은 자기주권신원에 입각하여, 제 3자의 인증기관을 거치지 않고서도 내가 나임을 스스로 증명하는 시스템을 만드는데 노력해왔습니다. 이러한 노력에 힘입어 탈중앙화된 PKI(DPKI)라는 기술을 도입하여 개인의 일상적인 ID와 가상 ID를 연결하는 차세대 ID 솔루션인 Meta ID를 개발하였으며, 이는 증명 및 평판 시스템을 기반으로 한 KYC 준수 ID외에 개인이 주체가 되는 혁신적인 노력을 이뤄냈습니다.

메타디움 미래
여러 분야에서 신원인증을 보완하기 위해 DID를 도입해왔고, 그 실효성과 안전성이 입증되어 왔습니다. 하지만, 여전히 남아있는 숙제는 DID 플랫폼이 특정 블록체인 플랫폼에 Lock-in되어 벗어나기 어려운 것이 현실입니다. 블록체인 기반 ID 서비스 기업들은 이종 블록체인 간 호환을 이루려는 노력에도 불구하고 성공하지 못하였으며, 이는 각자 구축한 ID의 데이터 포맷이 다르다는 점과 서명에 대한 검증을 이종 블록체인 간 ID를 공유하고 검증하기란 쉽지 않기 때문입니다.
메타디움은 다시 한번 새로운 도전을 시작하려고 합니다. 이종 블록체인과의 연결을 통해 신원인증의 보안과 신속한 검증을 실현하고, 디지털 신원을 손쉽게 관리하고 신뢰성 있는 인증 체계 도입할 것입니다. 메타디움 DID 플랫폼이 아닌 이종 블록체인 간 공유할 수 있는 메타디움 Identity Layer 체계를 구성함으로써, 하나의 통합된 ID 체계를 갖출 것입니다.
